Since joining First Eagle in 2007 as a senior analyst, Matt has played a number of roles. In 2011, he became associate portfolio manager of the First Eagle US Value Fund, and in 2014 he was promoted to portfolio manager of the fund. In 2015, he became director of research for the Global Value team. Matt’s post-college career began with three years of service in the US Air Force, where he served as a pilot. In 1993, he joined the Private Client Services group at Merrill Lynch. In 1998, he became a vice president and equity analyst at Security Capital Group, and in 2001, he went to Northern Trust as a vice president and senior equity analyst. From 2005 to 2007, he covered global industrials and healthcare as an equity analyst at Trilogy Global Advisors. A graduate of the US Air Force Academy, Matt received an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Matt serves on the Board of Trustees of the Caedmon School.
